Chrysler makes it easier to park

Compiled from Herald News Services

Chrysler's 2009 minivans will have optional radar systems able to check a driver's blind spots and detect oncoming traffic in parking lots.

The two systems, one of which is an industry first, will notify the driver of potential moving trouble by sounding a warning tone and flashing LEDs embedded in the vans' rear-view mirrors. Chrysler calls the new electronic minders Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Path (RCP) System. Systems similar to BSM are available on some German sports sedans. But no other company currently offers the Rear Cross Path system, said Frank Klegon, a product development spokesman for Chrysler LLC.
