The Jeep Patriot 2.0 CRD Sport, which bagged a green award recently, has now been named 4x4 of the Year by specialist magazine 4x4 and MPV Driver. According to experts, the Jeep Patriot is quicker than the Land Rover Freelander 2, more able off-road than the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV 4, pumps out less CO2 than the Nissan X-Trail and has a boot around the size of the VW Tiguan’s.
The vehicle has been attracting customers from competitor brands such as Land Rover, Nissan and Honda, since its launch in the UK in June 2007. Nearly 800 Jeep patriots have been sold since June 2007.
The Jeep Patriot, which has been rolled out in two versions namely Sport and Limited, offers a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. Reports from the United Kingdom inform that the prices of this eco-car start from £15,995.
The eco-car tag comes after the vehicle was awarded the Gold Award in its Green 4x4 awards ahead of all other manufacturers of 4x4s and SUVs. The jury had then showered laurels on the Jeep Patriot saying that the vehicle was the most economical 4x4 ever to wear the Jeep badge and the least polluting with their low carbon dioxide emissions compared to other smaller vehicles.
The report adds that the Jeep Patriot 2.0 CRD Sport offers a fuel-efficient diesel engine capable of nearly 43mpg, an impressive list of standard equipment, four-wheel drive technology, a spacious interior and high levels of safety and reliability all at a very affordable price.
