Hennessey planning 1000HP mid-engined supercar

hennessey_supercar_teaser_main04.jpgHennessey is most widely recognized for its Viper Venom series of cars, highly modified versions of the Dodge Viper developing up to 1,000hp in some guises. The most powerful model even beat the Bugatti Veyron in a sprint to 200mph during a recent shoot-out conducted by Road & Track. With credentials like that under its belt, Hennessey is now planning to build a direct rival to super exotics like the Veyron by developing a new mid-engined supercar using its 1,000hp twin-turbo V8 engine from the Viper Venom.

This teaser sketch was revealed during a recent video interview with Hennessey founder John Hennessey, which you can view by clicking here. Hennessey describes the car as having the power of the Viper Venom but weighing 363kg (800lbs) less. The engine would be mounted up back with drive sent to the rear wheels via a sequential gearbox. The car would also feature a very low coefficient of drag and the first concept version is scheduled to be unveiled in the near future.
